McCain Would “Fire Some Aides” if Caught on Open Mic Like Obama, Sarkozy

Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., this morning said that he would “fire some aides” if he were caught in an open microphone moment similar to what President Obama and French President Sarkozy have found themselves in.

“Obviously I would probably fire some aides that allowed that to happen if I were in their place,” McCain said during an interview on Fox News Channel this morning.  ”It really is indicative of the attitude and policies that this administration has towards Israel.”

The senator was reacting to the open mic moment caught between President Obama and French President Sarkozy while at the G20 meetings last week in France, speaking of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in what they thought was a microphone turned off.

“I can’t see him anymore, he’s a liar,” Sarkozy said in French.

“You may be sick of him, but me, I have to deal with him every day,” President Obama replied, according to reports.

McCain today said that he is a “great admirer” of  Netanyahu and that comments like these from the two leaders towards the prime minister are “not helpful” to the situation that Israel is in.
