" Angry Birds" and " Star Wars"? Do the words go together? Entertainment giants Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. have joined forces to combine the two in one video game.

The widely anticipated game, which will combine the classic Angry Birds with the stories, settings and characters of the "Star Wars" saga, will be released worldwide on Nov. 8.

"This is the best Angry Birds game we've ever done. It's the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away," Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka said in a statement. "As a big 'Star Wars' fan myself, I'm really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one."

While Rovio isn't giving much away, its vice president of franchise development, Ville Heijari, dropped a few hints.

"Our teams have collaborated in creating the perfect mashup of Star Wars characters and Angry Birds characters," Heijari said. "For instance, Red Bird will be Luke Skywalker. Other birds will be different characters from the 'Star Wars' universe and have special powers according to their Star Wars role."

Angry Birds players will also see familiar scenes from the Star Wars movies but the feel will still be true to the Angry Birds brand.

"You'll see a lot of new elements to the same familiar gameplay," Heijari said.

The idea for the game came up around the time Rovio released Angry Birds Space, a collaboration with NASA.

"There were a lot of huge 'Star Wars' fans on the design team and we thought, 'Where do we go from here after launching the space game?'…so Angry Birds Star Wars was a singular leap from Angry Birds Space."

After that, the partnership was a no-brainer.

"Both Star Wars and Angry Birds share the instant and irresistible appeal of hands-on fun," Colum Slevin, Vice President and Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd., said in a statement. "People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination."

Rovio hopes not only to attract Star Wars fans, but also to introduce the Saga to a whole new generation.

"There are a lot of young Angry Birds fans, from about age four and onward," Heijari said. "And they'll be introduced to 'Star Wars' for the first time. And of course there's a massive 'Star Wars' following who will enjoy the game."

Angry Birds Star Wars will be available on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone and Windows 8.
