Romney's and Rob Portman Fuel Up on Chipotle Before Debate Prep

DENVER - Even Mitt Romney can't study on an empty stomach.

Before heading into another afternoon of debate prep, Romney and Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, who is playing the role of President Obama in mock debates, stopped by a local Denver Chipotle Mexican Grill to pick up some lunch.

Romney, wearing jeans and a button down shirt, walked into the restaurant and discussed his meal choice out loud.

"I usually get the burrito. I think I'll go for the bowl today. That's a good idea."

Romney ended up ordered a burrito bowl with pork, rice, black beans, guacamole and salsa, and Portman opted for a burrito bowl with pork, brown rice, salsa hot sauce and extra guacamole.

When a reporter shouted out," Governor, are you ready for tomorrow?" Romney responded, "Gettin' there."

Romney has no public campaign events today, opting instead to do last minute prep work, but his wife Ann will hold a rally in Colorado later this afternoon.

Before retreating to his hotel, Romney shook hands and took photos with workers and patrons at the restaurant.

One supporter, evidentially surprised by the elaborate entourage that had entered the restaurant, exclaimed "Oh my gosh, God gave me a gift!" when she recognized Romney.

She went on to explain that she had planned on going to Romney's rally here in Denver Monday evening but couldn't because her daughter had homework to finish.

Chipotle was founded in Denver in 1993 by Steve Ells, who borrowed $85,000 from his father to open the first store when he was just 28-years-old. Romney speaks frequently on the stump about opening small businesses, and taking risks to do so.

"We've always encouraged young people, take a shot, go for it, take a risk, get the education, borrow money if you have to from your parents, start a business," Romney said during a speech in Ohio earlier this year.
