July 18, 2012 -- Mitt Romney has yet to pick a running a mate, despite reports that he could announce his choice for vice president as early as this week, his wife, Ann Romney, told ABC News today.

"We're not quite there yet," Ann Romney told ABC's Robin Roberts of her husband's thinking in an exclusive interview to air Thursday on "Good Morning America."

"We are certainly talking a lot. This last week, this last weekend, there was a lot of discussion," she said. "There was a lot of talk. We're not quite there yet. And we're going to be there soon."

The comments followed similar remarks she made in an interview with ABCNews.com moments before she sat down with Roberts.

"I'll wait and see, too, what Mitt is going to decide," she said. "I have no knowledge of what, when, or who is going to be coming down the road. So, I'll stay tuned with you."

Romney, 63, told Roberts that she wants the presumptive Republican nominee to pick someone who shares her husband's values.

"I was thinking of passion for this country, being able to serve, being able to have experience, real experience, being able to be ready Day One," she said

"Actually, if you think about it, there's a lot of people that fit under that umbrella."

Mitt Romney's reported short list includes Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Ohio Sen. Rob Portman.

Mitt Romney leaves next week for an overseas trip that will include stops at the Olympic Games in London and a visit to Israel, fueling speculation that he will announce his pick prior to leaving the country.

The Republican National Convention, by which time a running mate is typically already announced, begins Aug. 27 in Tampa, Fla.
