It's a scene you won't see at the White House on any other day of the year:  more than 30,000 Americans running rampant over the South Lawn, tossing wooden eggs, high-fiving likenesses of children's TV characters, doing the hula, and shooting hoops.

The 134th annual White House Easter Egg Roll, which took place Monday, was captured in a new time-lapse video that documents the spring-themed madness. (The First Dog "Bo" has an early cameo in the piece - at 0:09 - before the crowds flood onto his turf.)

Neil Mulholland, president of the National Parks Foundation, which organizes the annual event, told ABC News that the egg roll is the biggest White House event of the year and one of the only to allow families to roam freely across the grounds.

"It's really an open house," Mulholland. Families "get to wander the entirety of the South Lawn. They get to go to the basketball court and shoot hoops… it's a big open house for all families to come to."
