— -- In her first appearance on the campaign trail since giving birth to her second child in June, Chelsea Clinton didn't hold back when asked about Donald Trump's recent comments that her mother doesn't look presidential, blasting the comments as "misogynistic."

"I would hope that everyone could see that as the sad, misogynistic, sexist rhetoric that I’d hoped we’d moved beyond in the 21st century, certainly in 2016,” she said in an interview with PennLive.com that was broadcast live on their Facebook page.

In an interview with ABC News' David Muir earlier this week, Trump had said of Hillary Clinton, “I just don’t believe she has a presidential look, and you need a presidential look.” He declined to elaborate further.

Chelsea Clinton also said she was baffled by her mother's low trustworthiness ratings in polls. "They make no sense to me," she said. "There is no one I trust more than my mom."

The 36-year-old will continue to campaign in Pennsylvania tomorrow, with a stop in Scranton. Aside from the Democratic Convention, she has remained largely off the trail this summer, after giving birth to her son, Aidan, in June.
