— -- Dramatic video from a California city in a state of emergency shows residences teetering on the edge of eroding cliffs.

The residences are located near San Francisco in Pacifica, California, which declared a local state of emergency last week after being hit by El Nino storms.

Property owners in the affected areas were notified that the structures are no longer safe to inhabit, according to a press release issued by the city.

The residences seen in the aerial video have lost their backyards to the erosion and one patio is stretching over the cliff as it slips away.

KGO-TV reports the El Nino-enhanced storms have been battering the city since Dec. 15, and have caused a sinkhole in addition to the erosion.

“We still have a month or so of weather, and we can't predict what can happen looking ahead," Pacifica city manager Lorie Tinfow told KGO.
