— -- With the resignation of Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, President Obama’s cabinet just got a lot less colorful.

The former senator from Nebraska and Vietnam war veteran has long won the fascination of the blogosphere and social media users for his patterned socks, bright sweaters, colorful polo shirts and casual shoes, all worn while on the job. He famously wore a bright pink button down beneath a beige blazer for a meeting with the president in the Situation Room.
