April 22, 2014— -- Those Katy Perry trivia questions are tough.

Especially for Perry.

The pop starlet appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday, facing off in a trivia contest against a superfan -- they’re called “Katy Kats” -- named Emily.

“How well do you feel that you know Katy Perry?” Kimmel asked Perry, 29.

“Very well,” she responded. “I’m ready to play me.”

Emily was ready to play, too. She had a Perry-themed wall constructed in her home, but later took it down at her boyfriend’s urging.

“At least you have a boyfriend,” Katy quipped.

“Yeah,” Emily said, smiling.

“Who Knows Katy?” began with a personal question, the name of Katy’s parents. Emily responded first: Keith and Mary. Correct! Emily answered the second question, too, identifying Kelly Clarkson as the “American Idol” contestant for whom Perry wrote two songs.

Perry lowered her head in disbelief, stunned by her challenger’s success. When Kimmel asked the next question, Perry tapped the buzzer with her head, recalling the first film soundtrack to use one of her songs.

“Travelinghood of the Sister Pants,” she said. What?!

She tried again. “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” Whew, that was close!

Perry tied things up by describing what she did to earn a sixth-grade detention.

“Humping a tree,” she said, a bemused smile on her face.

Both of the competitors missed the next question about Perry’s Twitter followers – it’s 52.4 million – before Emily took off.

Grammy nominations? Eleven.

Katy’s three fragrances? Purr, Meow! and Killer Queen.

Perry bounced back by recalling her dinner from the night before (In-N-Out Burger). But it wasn’t enough to top Emily, who earned an autographed pillow with the win, as well as a hug from her idol.

“Congratulations,” Kimmel told Emily. “You know Katy better.”
