Nov. 15, 2013 — -- Jamie Foxx makes a good point.

"I had Colin Powell on stage dancing [too], so they could have said me and Colin Powell were dating," the Oscar winner joked to ABC News this week about the "absurd" rumors which surfaced last month that he and Katie Holmes were dating.

In fact, the "Django Unchained" star, 45, adds that he was on stage dancing with other celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres during the charity event where he was photographed with the former "Dawson's Creek" star.

"You know how social media is now, they try to make a mountain out of a molehill," he added. "That's our world we live in, you try not to Kanye it. I talk to [Kanye], you can't knock all of them out. You just keep moving."

And moving is exactly what Foxx is doing.

Jamie Foxx recently stepped behind the camera to direct "…And She Was My Eve" as part of the Canon Project Imaginat10n Film Festival inspired by consumer submitted photographs.

His film and the nine other shorts directed by the likes of Eva Longoria are now live on Yahoo Screen.

"I just sort of made the story up when they sent pictures in," he said of his inspiration for the movie. "The first picture I saw was a girl, she was hovering, she was suspended in the air like she was lifeless. I said this girl was made by someone."

In "...And She Was My Eve," Foxx creates a world where his protagonist pieces together his perfect woman, something the actor and Grammy Award winning singer can relate to.

"How do you find that in one girl?" he said of the quest for an ideal mate. "There's the person you would love to talk to and be best friends with. There's the person you are very attracted to. Then there's the person who uplifts you and gives you great counseling. You seldom find that all in one person."

He adds, "My phrase in life is you can't have it all."

Well, Foxx is definitely trying to do it all. Along with his directorial debut, he just filmed "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," taking on the role of Spidey's dangerous nemesis Electro.

"How cool is that man?!" he said. "To grow up watching Spiderman and now all of the sudden you're playing Electro – who I knew about back in the day. It was sort of tailor made for me."

To add to the excitement of the film's 2014 release, Foxx's biggest fan - his 4-year-old daughter Annalise - is also a Spider-Man buff!

"My daughter, when she turned 4, she did a Spider-Man theme at her birthday party and we get the call to say they want me to be in [the movie]," he said. "So, I have this great picture of her in her Spider-Man costume, shooting her web and me dressed as Electro and she's in my lap. That's when good things turn into great things. She was going crazy."
