— -- Hillary Clinton is projected to win the Democratic primary in Washington D.C., according to the Associated Press.

Tonight's contest marks the end of the primary season and a long battle for the Democratic nomination between Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Last Tuesday, Clinton locked up the Democratic nomination, making history as the first woman to be a major party's nominee.

Sanders, however, has remained in the race and he and Clinton were set to meet tonight in Washington.

Clinton has won 34 contests while Sanders won 23.
