— -- Get ready to take a mini vacation via YouTube.

The Alphabet-owned company is rolling out support for 360-degree live stream videos just in time for the Coachella music festival, according to a blog post today from Neal Mohan, YouTube's chief product officer.

"We first launched support for 360-degree videos back in March 2015. From musicians to athletes to brands, creators have done some incredible things with this technology," Mohan wrote. Now, they’ll be able to do even more to bring fans directly into their world, with 360-degree live streaming."

Perhaps the most high-profile first look at the format on YouTube will come this weekend when the company live streams select performances from Coachella in Indio, California, in their full 360-degree glory.

YouTube is also implementing spatial audio for on-demand YouTube videos, Mogan said, which will treat viewers to sounds with depth, distance and intensity to make it seem as though they are immersed in the video.
