— -- Word of blues icon B.B. King’s death was met with sadness, as music fans celebrated his impact and legacy.

King, 89, was one of the music world’s most prolific acts. He performed a reported 15,000 times during his career.

“What a brilliant man you were. One who will forever be noted as such an inspiration to millions globally,” the singer Gladys Knight wrote.

Former Beatle Ringo Starr conveyed his sympathies to King’s family.

For musician Orianthi, King served as an inspiration.

Chuck D of Public Enemy reflected on King’s impact in Memphis.

Country musician Lee Brice was also moved by King’s music.

King’s presence stretched far beyond the music world -- with actors, comedians, athletes and TV personalities reflecting on the life of the guitar legend.

“B.B. King may be gone but his music lives forever,” Fred Willard wrote.
